The Arc of Greater Plymouth recently held its’ annual Board of Directors recognition event at the Plymouth Yacht Club.

State Rep. Vinny deMacedo was the evening’s keynote speaker, addressing Arc staff, individuals, volunteer coaches, teachers, students and their families.

State Senate citations were presented to Plymouth elementary and middle school teachers Christina DeSantis, Ann-Marie Folino, Rebecca Currie, Cassidy Conway, Ellen Groom and Nancy Cavicchi, who received grants from The Arc of Greater Plymouth for their work with inclusiveness in their classrooms.

Recent Plymouth North graduates Emily Goonan and Ashley Dhooge and Plymouth South graduates Brianna Lacey and Melanie Hawes received scholarships for their community service work with individuals with developmental disabilities.

Shaw’s Supermarket of Plymouth was awarded a Senate citation for their generous donations to the Arc Food Pantry, and Live, Life and Believe of Plymouth was awarded a citation as the Arc Employer of the Year.

Senate awards were also presented to Jeff Casey, Mike Showstead and Stanley Startzell, all of Duxbury, for their many tireless years of volunteer coaching with Hoop Heroes, Buddy Ball and Soccer Stars.

Other award and grant recipients included Pembroke teacher and Plymouth resident Patricia Whipple and Marshfield teacher Julianne McKinnon.

Casey Seaman, Department of Developmental Services area director, awarded Arc individuals Leigh-Ann Barry, Eric Aldersley, Adam Hill, Tina Theran, Trevor D’Souza, Allison Stott, Marie Saldi and Joe Conley with certificates for their self-advocacy skills.

Arc Adult Family Care Director Linda Freeman, of Pembroke, received the Arc Employee of the Year award, and Efrain Gomez, of Carver, received the Employment Services individual of the year.
